Jean Timko

Jean Ross Timko, 77 lifelong resident of Kensington and beloved wife of Edward Timko, died peacefully on Friday, Sept. 26, 2008 surrounded by her loving family after a very courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late William and Mary Barks Ross. Jean was predeceased by her sister Charlotte Ross also of Kensington. Jean was a gentle and caring wife and mother who will always be remembered for her kindness and loving spirit. As a young woman Jean graduated from Berlin High School and Central Connecticut State College. She went on to have a very long and successful career in insurance working in both Boston and Hartford. She was a devoted member of Kensington Congregational Church and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Jean enjoyed many special times with her family and friends which will always be fondly remembered. She also loved the arts and enjoyed attending the theater and the New Britain Symphony. When she retired, Jean and her husband traveled to many different countries around the world always making new friends at each destination. She cherished her pets Tog, Scrappy and Miss Ophelia. Jean was a wonderful and generous person who will be missed dearly by all who knew her as she was forever concerned with the well-being of everyone she loved and she will live in their hearts forever. In addition to her husband Edward, she is survived by her stepdaughter Caroline Timko Van Austin of Kensington, Sisters-in-law Barbara, Irene, Jackie, and Irene Timko, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Jean's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Southington Care for their compassionate, and tender care. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at Kensington Congregational Church. Burial will take place at South Burying Ground. Calling hours are Sunday from 4-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. New Britain. Memorial donations may be made to the Kensington Congregational Church, 312 Percival Ave, Kensington.
