Jean Plocharczyk

Jean (Iskra) Plocharczyk, born in New Britain on July 28, 1925, passed away peacefully on July 15, 2026, 13 days short of her 101st birthday. Jean was married for 69 years to the love of her life, Sticker (Stanley) Plocharczyk, who passed on May 11, 2019.

Together they moved from New Britain to Farmington, where Jean spent her last few months at the Amberwoods Nursing home. She was born to Mary Iskra and was one of nine children all deceased. Her siblings provided her with many wonderful nieces and nephews who continued to dote on her.

Those of you who knew Jean will remember her dedication to her volunteer activities with CCARC and New Britain General Hospital, where she received many awards for her service. In her younger days she was an avid bowler, traveling to California and Texas for national tournaments. She was a great cook and baker; many will remember her elaborate wedding cakes. Jean and Sticker enjoyed traveling with friends and family to many areas of the United States.

Jean leaves behind four children: Janet Westall and her husband Steven of Plymouth, CT, Peter Plocharczyk and his wife Paula of Palm Coast, FL, Nancy Kirk and her husband Howard Gilmore of Onset, MA, and Jeffrey Plocharczyk and his wife Debra Palmer of Bradenton, FL. She was the proud grandmother of Brenna Kirk of Fraser, CO, Lauren Jones of Bristol, CT, Michael Plocharczyk of Eliot, ME, and Tara Plocharczyk of Ipswich, MA. The frosting on the cake were her two great-grandchildren, Casimir (5) and Evie (3). We all thank Michael and Sarah for those beautiful additions.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 10:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Calling hours will be on Tuesday morning from 9 AM to the time of the service. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, New Britain.
