Jean B. Gilbert

Jean B. Gilbert, 83, of Berlin, widow of George Gilbert, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Basile. Jean was a Berlin resident most of her life and was formerly employed at Emhart Industries. She attended First Church of Christ Congregational in New Britain. Surviving are several nieces and nephews, including Scott and Stephanie Patterson, Scott and Lisa Basile, Debbie and Todd Smith, Robin and Steven Washburn, Thomas and Virginia Basile, Barry and Mary Basile,and Glenn Basile and his husband Gregg Hirschfield; and several great nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her husband George Gilbert; her brothers, Thomas A. Basile, Nicholas E. Basile, Richard D. Basile; and her sister Margaret Patterson. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the First Church of Christ Congregational, 830 Corbin Ave., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
