Jean F. Cabelus, 87, of Kensington, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2007 at Midstate Medical Center in Meriden. She was the widow of Bernard Cabelus, who was the first State Building Inspector for the State of CT. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late William and Rose Charland Forsyth. She was a New Britain resident before moving to Kensington 58 years ago. Jean was formerly employed at C.M. Hamilton Contractors and later worked at E.W. Mildrum Insurance for over 20 years, before retiring. She was a member of St. Paul's Church, the Monday Night Club, and was known for her extensive Bear Collection. Surviving are two daughters, Virginia Philippon and her husband Joseph of Newington, Margaret Farone and her husband William of Kensington; a son, Neil Cabelus of Texas; seven grandchildren, Joseph and Jason Philippon, Julie Pade, Brenda, Paul and Kevin Cabelus, and Rachel Roding; two great-grandchildren, Charles Pade and Gabriel Philippon; her special care giver Katherine O'Leary; her good friends and ladies of the Tuesday lunch group; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-5 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
