Janice Mae Hughes 76, died peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2013 at St. Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, after a brief illness. Janice was born in Hartford on November 20, 1937. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Gladys Hoskins of Newington, and was married to the late Donald Leo Hughes of New Britain. In addition to raising her three daughters, she worked for Travelers Insurance Company in Hartford for many years. Janice thoroughly loved taking long walks, especially at Cove Park with her sister Charlene. She enjoyed going to the beach in Old Saybrook with her sister in the summertime. She loved spending quality time with all her grandchildren, shopping, and playing basketball with her grandsons. She also had a passion for playing the piano and listening to music. Janice is survived by her three daughters, Donna Palmisano and Jane Hughes of New Britain, and Sandra Badrigian of Keene, NH. She was predeceased by her three brothers, Donald Hoskins of Wethersfield, Ronald Hoskins of Vernon, and Raymond Hoskins of Massachusetts. She is also survived by her sister Charlene Hoskins of Wethersfield; seven grandchildren, Joseph Palmisano Jr, Anthony Palmisano, Kristie Badrigian, Peter Badrigian Jr., Edwin Gomez Jr., Jacqueline Gomez, and Kimberly (Gomez) Jenai; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. There will be a private family service held at South Congregational Church, 90 Main St., New Britain on Saturday, January, 4th at 10:00 AM.
