OBITUARY: James L. Salvaggi James L. Salvaggi, 65, of New Britain, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002 at home. Born in Weymouth, MA, he was the son of the late Augustino Salvaggi and the late Elsie Moe MacKay. He was a former Massachusetts resident and was a New Britain resident for the past 16 years. He was formerly employed as a driver for Greyhound for 28 years and at Bonanza Buslines for 10 years, retiring in 2000. During his career, he had driven over 3,000,000 miles. He was a member of the Amalgamated Transit Union and was a US Airforce Veteran. He was an avid golfer and Patriots football fan, and was particularly fond of his dogs. He is survived by his wife, Marie Barks Salvaggi; four daughters, Catherine Daggett of Brockton, MA, Colleen Salvaggi of Norton, MA, Maureen Killoran of Litchfield, NH, and Michelle Brodie of Brockton, MA; his step-children, Elizabeth DelGreco, James Hardenburg, and David Hardenburg, all of New Britain; two brothers, Donald Salvaggi and his wife Phyllis of N. Weymouth, MA and Alan MacKey of Quincy, MA; his grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, Rebecca, Heather, Kelly, Adam, Brittany, Leah, Michael, Joshua, and Carolyn; a great-granddaughter, Isabelle Rose; an uncle, Walter Moe and his wife Glen of Rockland, MA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. Calling hours are Friday evening from 5-8 PM at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
