OBITUARY: James J. Marturano with Picture for Herald James J. Marturano, 83, of Kensington, died Monday, Dec. 17, 2001 at New Britain General Hospital. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Sofio and Lucia Mezzio Marturano. He was a Kensington resident for the past 36 years. He was formerly employed at New Britain General Hospital and was a member of St. Pauls Church and VFW Post 10732. James was a US Army Veteran of World War II, having served in the 169th Infantry, 43 Division in the Pacific Theater. He was an avid fisherman and bowler. Surviving are three sons, Joseph D. Marturano of Kensington, Vincent C. Marturano and his wife Yvonne of FL, and James Marturano of Simi Valley, CAL; a daughter, Eva Ann McElligott and her husband Patrick of Deerfield, MA; two brothers, Frank Marturano of Kensington and Sebastian Marturano of New Britain; three sisters, Lucy Thiede of New Britain, Anna Pandolfi of Kensington, and Mary Malone of Middletown; four grandchildren, Fallon and Holly McElligott and Michelle and Nicholas Marturano; his former wife, Eva M. Marturano; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Chester Marturano, a sister, Connie Mezzio, and three brothers-in-law, Anthony Pandolfi, Anthony Malone and Walter Thiede. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:00 Am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 AM at St. Anns Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
