James "Jim" D. Panetta

James "Jim" D. Panetta, 83, of New Britain, CT passed away on Friday, October 10, 2025 at home with his family after a long illness.  He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Ann; four children, Joseph, Diane, Kenneth and Lynne Marie; six granddaughters; and three great-grandchildren, along with many family members out of state.

Jim was born in Nanticoke, PA and graduated from Nanticoke High School before entering the military. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran. Jim was past Exalted Ruler of the BPOE #957 New Britain, served as past treasurer of the 8th Ward Political Club, and was a member of the Quartette Club.  He was an avid motorcycle rider, enjoyed singing karaoke, and playing pinochle with his wife at the New Britain Senior Center. During his long career, he worked at New Britain Machine, Dattco Bus Company, City of New Britain BOE and was co-owner with his wife of the Log Cabin Restaurant in New Britain for 17 years. Jim will be missed by his family and friends.

There will be no calling hours.  Memorial services will be held at the convenience of the family.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home in New Britain is in charge of arrangements.
