Irene Mae Knopf, 82, of Kensington, wife of Richard Knopf, passed away on Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Ledgecrest  Healthcare Center.

Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha (Koziol) Wojciulewicz.  Irene was a long time Kensington resident and was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.  She was a former member of the Ladies League and Crafters at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Irene loved her family and she enjoyed hosting picnics and holiday gatherings. She looked forward to crafting with her friends and lunch with the girls. Irene was an animal lover and she enjoyed the company of her rescue cat Muffy.

Surviving are her devoted husband, Richard Knopf; her daughter and son-in-law,  Cindy and Nick DiPierdomenico of Kensington; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Ken and Janet Knopf of Kensington and Gary Knopf of New Britain; and four grandchildren, Nicole Kupstas and her husband Ryan, Danny Knopf, Kevin Knopf and Katie Knopf. Irene was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Wojciulewicz.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11 AM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.  Burial will follow in Maple Cemetery.  Memorial donations may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1103 Chamberlain Hwy, Kensington, CT  06037 or to Masonicare Hospice, 111 Founders Plaza, Suite 200, East Hartford, CT  06108.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
