Ingrid A. Blomberg, 93, formerly of New Britain, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, March 3, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Norman E. Blomberg who died in 1999. Born in Nykopping, Sweden, she was the daughter of the late A. Joseph and Anna Young. She graduated from Greenwich High School in 1938 and played the violin in her high school orchestra, 1st Chair. Ingrid was secretary to the purchasing agent of Conde Nast Publication in Old Greenwich, CT (printers of Vogue & House and Garden Magazines). She also was employed at assistant to the President of the YWCA in New Britain and at the Scandinavian Gift Shop in Farmington before retiring. She was a member of Valley Community Baptist Church in Avon. Ingrid had a strong faith in her Lord, and emulated that faith to her children. Ingrid enjoyed playing the violin and was a soloist in various choirs. Surviving are a daughter, Lorraine Wry and her husband Dennis of Simsbury; a son, Robert Blomberg and his wife Lori also of Simsbury; five grandchildren, Deborah Morel and her husband Gary Morel Sr., Rebekah Wry, Katie Blomberg, Anna Blomberg, and Mark Blomberg; and a great-grandson, Gary Morel Jr. She was predeceased by a sister Gunborg Johnson, and by a brother, Rev. Ralph Young. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
