Ingeborg Linnea Johnson Freese, 93, of Newington, died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003. She was the wife of Henry Charles Freese, who died six days earlier on Dec. 8, 2003. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Levin and Adeline Swanson Johnson. She was a former New Britain resident moving to Newington in 1948. She was formerly employed as an art teacher in the New Britain Public Schools, retiring in 1944. She later worked as a substitute teacher in Newington. Ingeborg was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, where she was a former Sunday school superintendent and teacher, a member of the Altar Guild and the blanket makers group at church. She was a former Girl Scout leader and served as the corresponding secretary of the People to People Council, sister City Talca Chile. She is survived by two daughters, Linda Braun and her husband William of Burlington and Lois Serafino of Southington; a son, Steven Freese and his wife Patricia of Newington; a granddaughter, Jennifer Freese of Middletown; three nieces, Cynthia Pavano and Sandy Quarello, both of Kensington, and Karen Omartian of Arlington, VA; and a nephew, Kenneth Freese of Bristol. Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. Burial for both Ingeborg and Henry Freese will follow the services in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the local food share program of your choice.
