Ida Drachenberg Narus, 83, formerly of New Britain, died Tuesday, Mar. 16, 2004. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Narus. Born in New Britain she was the daughter of the late Frederick and Julia Hintz Drachenberg. She was a graduate of Berlin High School and lived in Berlin and New Britain. After raising her family, Ida continued to use her nurturing talents as a teacher's aid in the New Britain School System. She was also active in CANB, a citizens action group in New Britain. Ida was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Altar Guild at church. Ida always chose to see the bright side of life, finding and remembering the best in people and in any situation Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael Narus of Stuart, FL, Richard and Marie Narus of East Berlin, Robert and Debra Narus of Colchester; two daughters, Judy Narus and her husband Kenneth Klass of Manchester and Sandy Narus of New Britain; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Peggy Drachenberg of Port Richie, FL; eight grandchildren, Michael and John Narus, Jennifer Glatt and her husband Michael, James Narus, Joseph and Patricia Narus, Sarah and Kevin Klass; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Aliana, and Austin. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain, CT 06051 or to the Benevolent Care Fund at Pilgrim Manor, 52 Missionary Rd., Cromwell, CT 06416. For the last several years, Ida lived at Pilgrim Manor in Cromwell. The family would like to thank the staff for the care and love extended to Ida and her family.
