It is with profound sadness on Earth and unbridled joy in Heaven that we notify friends and loved ones that Hope “Bobbie” Albanese Pisko passed away peacefully in her home on November 13, 2023 after a brief illness. Born April 4, 1928, to Anne and Armand Albanese, in New Britain Connecticut, Bobbie was a long-time resident of New Britain. Twenty years ago, she moved to Old Lyme, Connecticut along with a second home in Deerfield Beach, Florida. She was a “Snowbird” for several years until she decided to make Deerfield Beach her permanent home.
Bobbie graduated from New Britain High School and attended Capital Community College. Unlike her contemporaries at this time, Bobbie worked outside the home throughout her life. Before she was married to the love of her life, Lawrence (Larry) Pisko, who predeceased her in 1996, Bobbie worked at the Southern New England Telephone Company. After she was married on June 25, 1949, Bobbie held a variety of roles to supplement the family income, including the assembly line at Landers, Frary & Clark, and as a secretary at The Van Way Printing Company.
In 1977, Bobbie started her career with Aetna Insurance Company, where she held numerous positions until her retirement in 1998. Never idle, Bobbie worked a second job at the Customer Service Desk in Westfarm's Mall in Farmington while working full time at Aetna, continuing her employment at Westfarm’s until 2004.
Throughout her life, Bobbie had an affinity to “all things ocean”. From her earliest childhood memories, of day trips to Sound View Beach with her parents, she shared that love for the salt life with her children. The family enjoyed countless hours on their small boat in Niantic, Connecticut, waterskiing, swimming and harvesting the bounties of the ocean; fishing, clamming, crabbing and even maintaining a single non-commercial lobster trap, that was nestled among the dozens of commercial traps.
Bobbie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but they will keep her warm, kind, selfless and generous nature in their hearts. She will be lovingly remembered by her children; a son, Larry Pisko and wife Linda of Berlin, Connecticut; and a daughter, Lois Dwyer and husband Don of Boca Raton, Florida. Bobbie cherished her role as “Gram” to two doting grandchildren, James Pisko of Carlsbad, California and Ashley Sit of Glastonbury, Connecticut, and 3 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, November 20, 2023 at 11:30 AM at St. Paul Church, Kensington. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday morning from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Rather than flowers, we request you donate to Bobbie’s favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
