Henry "Hank" Warchol, 90, of Kensington, husband of Barbara (Lugli) Warchol, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 23 surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Anthony and Mary Warchol. He was a former New Britain and Bristol resident before moving to Kensington 48 years ago. He was a member of St. Paul Church. Henry was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, where he served on the submarine U.S.S. CHUB SS329. He was formerly employed at SNET, as a lineman before retiring. Being an avid golfer, Henry was a member of the Timberlin Senior golf league as well as the SNET golf league. His other hobbies included hunting and fishing. In his earlier days, he played softball on the Guida’s Softball team.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Warchol; three children, Robyn Sparkman of Berlin and her husband Anthony Rossi, Thomas Warchol and his wife Cheryl of New Hartford, Lisa McColl and her husband John of Kensington; two brothers, Edward Warchol and Bernard Warchol, both of Bristol; a sister, Mildred Warchol of Torrington; seven grandchildren, Ryan, Rebecca, Ross, Rhett, Ian, Amanda and Christina; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson, Quinn, Nora, and Chloe.
His wisdom and sincerity were known and appreciated by everyone he encountered.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at St. Paul Church, Kensington. Burial, with military honors, will be in South Burying Ground. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
