Henry F. LaVette, Jr., 72, of Berlin, West Palm Beach, FL, and Becket, MA, died Thursday, May 30, 2002 at New Britain General Hospital. He was the husband of Kathryn Reney LaVette. Born in New Britain, he was the son of Geneva Landon LaVette of New Britain, and the late Henry F.X. LaVette. He graduated from New Britain High School, class of 1947 and the University of Hartford. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, having served in the medical corp. He was formerly employed as a general foreman at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, a division of United Technologies, Non-Destructive Testing. After retirement, he spent his winters in West Palm Beach FL and his summers in Becket MA and Berlin, CT. He was a member of St. Paul Church, Kensington, St. Mary Church in Becket, MA, and St. Luke Church in Palm Springs, FL; and was a member of the VFW, Elks Lodge, the Knights of Columbus and Timberlin Senior Golf Mens Club. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Atty. Dennis LaVette and Patricia LaVette, and Henry F. LaVette III and Pamela LaVette, all of Berlin; two daughters and a son-in-law, Ann and Donald Tuleja of Terryville, Noreen LaVette and Rose Shore of New Britain; six grandchildren, Kyle and Justin LaVette, Amanda and Katelyn LaVette, and Luke and Adam Tuleja; a brother-in-law and sister-in- law, Susan and Richard Reney of New Britain; and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:30 AM at St. Paul Church, Kensington. Private burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery. According to Henry's wishes, there will be no calling hours and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul Church Restoration Fund. Erickson-Hansen Funeral home, New Britain, is in charge of arrangements.
