Helen Zaczkowski

Helen Zaczkowski, 94, of New Britain, widow of Casimer Zaczkowski, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Ledgecrest Healthcare Center in Kensington. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Isadore and Josephine Karpicz Urbanowicz. She was a long time New Britain resident and lived in Berlin for 40 years before moving back to New Britain. Helen was a member of Holy Cross Church and the Holy Cross Church Ladies Guild. Surviving are five daughters, Virginia Nichols of Plantsville, CT, Louise Wilcox & husband Daniel of New Britain, CT, Marilyn Dorau & husband David of Kensington, CT, Lynne Vitale and Laurie Forbes of New Britain, CT; and four sons, Daniel Zaczkowski & wife Judyth of Mentor, Ohio, Richard Zaczkowski of Timesville, SC, Paul Zaczkowski & wife Judith of Kensington, CT, James Zaczkowski & wife Michelle of Southington, CT. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Thomas & Kurt Nichols, Richard & Michael Nappi, Tracy Dube, Gregory Festa, Sara, Ashley & Megan Vitale, Steven & Andrew Pelto, Nina, Shaun, Lauren & Alison Zaczkowski, Jonathan Martin; her great grandchildren, Amanda, Benjamin, Shannon, Zachary & Elizabeth Nichols, Christopher, David & Tyler Dube, Samantha, Jordyn, Mitchel , Ricky, Jasmine & Jessica Nappi, Colin Zaczkowski, Julianna Rochefort, Josephine Martin & Sophie Vitale; two sisters, Irene Garabedian of New Britain, CT, Stella Nadolny and husband Henry of Wolcott, CT; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by: Brother Victor Urbanowicz, daughter Noreen Pelto, grandsons Irving Nichols lll & Kenneth Zaczkowski. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM at Holy Cross Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
