Helen S. Buden, 92, of New Britain, passed away on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Walnut Hill Care Center. She was the widow of Edward M. Buden who died in 1973. Born in the family home on Tremont St. in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Julia (Klein) Stein. She was a life-long New Britain resident, graduated from New Britain High School in 1938 and was formerly employed at Emhart. Helen was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Altar Guild, and the New Britain Seniors. She was a life-long Red Sox baseball fan. Helen traveled extensively, enjoying the wonders of the National Parks. Surviving are three daughters, Lorraine Zerfas and her husband Wayne of Daphne, AL, Barbara Unwin and her husband Bob of Kensington, and Marjorie Brault and her husband Lee of Wolcott; a son Charlie Buden and his wife Deb of West Chester, OH; five grandchildren and their spouses, Wendy Brault, Carl and Christina Brault, Laurel and Daniel Scarozza, Harry Webster, and Emily and Coleman Cosgrove; one great-grandchild, Owen Brault; and her life-long friend, Sue Kochunas. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Sam Stein, Al Stein, and Henry Stein, and by a sister, Elsie Prills. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family would like to thank Walnut Hill Care Center for their compassionate care, especially Pedro, Chris, Aneta, Wally, Petra, Ana, and Paulina. Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
