Hayg DerAprahamian, 84, of New Britain, husband of Janet DerAprahamian, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012 at the Hospital of Central CT with his loving family by his side. Born in Aleppo, Syria, he was the son of the late Sarkis and Mariam (Palandjian) DerAprahamian. He was a New Britain resident since 1967. Hayg was a candy maker and was the former owner of Chocolate Paladin in Beirut, Lebanon. He was later employed by the State of CT at CCSU, retiring in 1997. Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Janet (Sarkessian) DerAprahamian; two daughters, Linda Kakoyan and her husband Robert of Yardley PA and Lisa Dahbour and her husband Elie of Rocky Hill; a brother, Zaven DerAprahamian of West Hartford; five grandchildren, who were the love of his life, John Kakoyan, Camille Kakoyan, Alexander Kakoyan, Gabrielle Dahbour, and Danielle Dahbour; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday form 4-7 PM, with a prayer service at 6:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain.
