Harry Haroutunian, 82, of New Britain, husband of Margaret Philiposian Haroutunian, died Thursday at home surrounded by his family. Born in New York, he was the son of the late Moushek and Vartanoush Ansourian Haroutunian. He was a New Britain resident for over 60 years and was formerly employed by the State of Conn. as a Personnel Director and was a former editor of the Armenian Tribune. Harry was a US Army Veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection where he was a former superintendant of the Sunday School program. Harry was also a member of the Knights of Vartan, Gamsaragan Lodge #27. In addition to his wife Margaret, he is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Harry and Mary Haroutunian of West Palm Beach, FL, Michael and Susan Haroutunian of New Britain; seven grandchildren, Connery, Harrison, Sophia, Bree, Mickey, Rae and Sebastian; and a great-grandson, Kalob, a sister-in-law Elizabeth Rex and her husband Charles of Somers, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday at 9:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., and at 10:00 am at the Armenian Church of the Holy Resurrection. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery with full military honors. Calling hours are Sunday from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
