Harold Earl Yantz, 85, of East Berlin, husband of Anne Bucknam Yantz, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Sept. 28, 2008. Born in Burlington, VT, he was the son of the late Richard and Lena Cote Yantz. Harold was a resident of East Berlin since 1928 and was formerly employed as a tool maker at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in East Hartford and Hi Speed Machine in Berlin before retiring. He was a US Air Corps veteran of World War II and was a member of Sacred Heart Church and the American Legion. In addition to his wife Anne, he is survived by a son, Thomas Yantz and his wife Susan of Berlin; a daughter, Peggy Vaghi and her husband Mark of Woodbury; two brothers, Leonard Yantz of Walpole, OR and Donald Yantz of Melbourne, FL; a sister, Marian Soderberg; four grandchildren, Steven Yantz and his wife Jillian, Allison Yantz, John Vaghi, and Matthew Vaghi; a great granddaughter, Margaret Yantz; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Yantz, and a sister Thelma Seaman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin. Burial will be in Wilcox Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday morning from 8:30 to 9:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
