Hagop Simerdjian

Hagop Simerdjian, 74, of Newington, beloved husband of Knarig "Clair" Boyadjian Simerdjian, died peacefully on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007 at Mass General Hospital in Boston, MA. Born in Lebanon, he was the son of the late Avetis and Rachel Simerdjian. Hagop moved with his family to Armenia at the age of 12 and moved to the United States in 1977. He was a Newington resident for 20 years and formerly resided in New Britain. Hagop was employed as a specialty driver for the military and other organizations. He was a devoted member of St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church in New Britain. In addition to his wife Knarig "Clair" Simerdjian, he is survived by a son, Aram Semerdjian and his wife Margaret of Kensington; a daughter, Rose Bentley and her husband William of North Haven; a sister Melanie Chamichian of California; his grandchildren, Jacob, Lori, Rachel, and Michaela Bentley, Jenifer and Richard Demerchant; and a great-grandson, Damon. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain and at 11:00 AM at St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church. Burial will be in West Meadow Cemetery, Newington. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, with a prayer service to be conducted at 6:00 PM by Archpriest Rev. Krikoris Keshischian. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church, 167 Tremont St., New Britain, CT 06051.
