OBITUARY DRAFT: H. Virginia "Ginny" DeCamp H. Virginia "Ginny" Peterson DeCamp, 81, of Cromwell, died Sunday, Mar. 14, 2004 at Middlesex Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of the late Witsel LeRoy "Roy" DeCamp. Born in Glen Ridge, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Carl and Gertrude Anderson Peterson. She was a former long-time resident of West Caldwell, NJ and a Cromwell resident since 1998. Ginny was a member of Hilltop Covenant Church in Cromwell and a former active and long-time member of Trinity Covenant Church in Livingston, N.J. A graduate of Randolph-Macon Woman's College with a degree in Chemistry, she worked for Schering Corp. in Bloomfield for a time before leaving to raise a family. She studied the Russian and later worked form home translating Russian chemical papers for Schering. Ginny and Roy enjoyed traveling together and journeyed overseas and throughout the U.S. She was an avid reader, with a keen interest in science, theology and the arts. Her creative spirit, curious mind and kind nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her. In addition to her husband Roy, she was predeceased by her brother Carl Erving Peterson. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Paula DeCamp of Douglas, GA; three daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Eugene Sokolowski of Burke, VA, Karin and Peter Savio of Schoharie, NY, Cynthia and Joseph Callahan of Northampton, MA; a sister, Ruby Linnea Best of Plantation, FL; seven grandchildren, Robin, Chad, and Jenna Sokolowski, Marcus W. DeCamp, Graham, Annika, and Hannah Savio; a great-grandson Colin Sokolowski; one niece and three nephews. Memorial services will be held Friday at 2:00 PM at the Pilgrim Manor Chapel, Cromwell and on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Trinity Covenant Church in Livingston, NJ. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Covenant Church, 343 E. Cedar St., Livingston, NJ 07039 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
