Guillermina Diaz

Guillermina Diaz, 79, of Farmington, formerly of New Britain, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at John Dempsey Hospital. She was the widow of Gregorio Diaz. Born in Maunabo, Puerto Rico, she was the daughter of the late Luis Aguayo and Julia Rivera. Guillermina was a New Britain resident for 25 years before moving to Farmington nine years ago. She was a member of the Assembly of God church in Newburgh, NY, where she had also been a graduate of the Bible Institute. Surviving are her six sons, Rubin Ortiz and wife Julia of Billerica, MA, Raul Ortiz of FL, David Martinez and his wife Sheila of FL, Jose Diaz and his wife Judith of Hartford, Wilfredo Diaz of Hartford, and Julio Diaz of New Britain, his four daughters, Maria Ortiz of Puerto Rico, Ana L. Martinez and her companion Gary Overby of New Britain, Marilyn Martinez and her companion Wilfredo Torres of New Britain, and Iris Diaz of Hartford, her grandchildren, David and Anita Green, Danny Vazquez, Rosie and Angel Martinez, Luis and Alex Diaz, Lelani Martinez, Ruben, Jesenie, Ronald and Rodlie Ortiz, Raul Alexy and Zenia D. Ortiz, Antonio Nirma, Jose L. and Joan M. Figueroa, her great grandchildren, Alize and Naya Vazquez, Elijah and Morgan Green and Jezia Martinez, her brother Victor Aguayo, her three sisters, Gladys, Virginia and Maria Aguayo, and her daughter-in-law Sonia Homar. Guillermina was predeceased by her son Angel Martinez and her grandson Kenny Vazquez. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
