Grace Lillian Hanson

Grace Lillian Hanson, 87, of Cromwell, beloved wife of "Bud" Hanson, passed away on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Middlesex Hospital. Born in New Bedford, MA, she was the daughter of the late James and Florence (Bond) Bowker. Grace was a long time West Hartford resident before moving to Covenant Village in Cromwell in 2003. She was employed as a nurse at Hartford Hospital for over 35 years and was a member of Faith Assembly of God, Hartford and Kensington Baptist Church (now Wellspring). She had been a very active church member in the past where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a youth leader, and was a member of the Women's Missionary Council. Grace was also a member of the Hartford Hospital Retired Nurses Association. Grace's greatest interest in life was caring for her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her beloved husband, Arthur A. "Bud" Hanson, with whom she would have celebrated 65 years of marriage in November of this year; three children, Janet Brisson and her husband Ron of Durham, Audrey Thorington and her husband Don of Springfield, IL, Paul Hanson and his wife Jill of Burlington; five grandchildren, Jeffrey Brisson of Cheshire, Leah Hanson of Boston, MA, Camille Hanson of Burlington, Kelli Wilcockson and her husband Jim of North Pole, Alaska, and Kevin Thorington of Springfield, IL; two great-grandchildren, Mya Grace Wilcockson and Aaron Robert Wilcockson; a daughter-in-law, Janice MacIntosh of Canton, CT; two sisters-in-law, Dana Bowker of Rocky Hill and Mary Bowker of Palm Beach, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Alan Hanson; and two brothers, Robert Bowker and Thomas Bowker. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St., New Britain. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Center Cemetery, South Windsor. Calling hours are Wednesday from 6-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
