Glenn Joseph Glatz peacefully fell asleep in the arms of the Lord on March 13 , 2022, at home in Newington CT following a heroic battle with cancer. The fourth son of the late Warren and Irene (Kardok) Glatz, he was born in 1963 in New Britain CT, and lived most of his life in the Berlin/Kensington area. He later had residences in West Hartford and Newington as well as Oakland Park, Florida.
A graduate of E.C. Goodwin Technical High School, he was a former volunteer with the East Berlin Fire Department as well as a member of the Berlin Lions Club. As a Lion, Glenn proudly served as 2009 Club President, as well as President of the Berlin Fair. During his tenure with the Berlin Lions Club, he was awarded the prestigious Melvin Jones Award, as well as Knight of the Blind, Ambassador of Sight and Loyal Shepard.
Through the years he was employed by Pella Windows, Carpenter Technology and Manafort Brothers.
Glenn was a friend of Bill, celebrating 10 years of sobriety and dedicated service to others in need through the organization which he loved and was so dedicated and devoted to, serving on District 7 and Area 11 service committees and performing service work in hospitals and institutions to help others.
Glenn is survived by his daughter Jennifer, sister Pamela (Christopher) of Bolton, brothers Gary (Theresa) of Kannapolis NC, Jeffrey (Carla) of West Palm Beach FL, Michael of Vero Beach, FL., several nieces and nephews and his former wife Donna. In his final weeks, he received loving care from special friends: Ruth, Rob and Jim, as well as his sister Pamela.
A calling hour will be held at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main Street, New Britain on Thursday from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at St. Jerome Church, 1010 Slater Road, New Britain CT, followed by committal in Fairview Cemetery alongside his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Glenn’s name to High Watch Recovery Center.
