Gladys Klotz

Gladys (Bonkosky) Klotz, 99, formerly of Kensington, passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Southington Care Center.  She was the widow of Stephen Klotz Jr.

Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late William and Matilda (Ritz) Bonkosky.  Gladys was a Kensington resident for over 50 years and was a former resident of Cromwell, Newington and Southington.  She was a dedicated first grade teacher in Cromwell, Southington, and Berlin before retiring.  Gladys was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, the Luther League, and the Monday Night Club in Kensington.

Surviving are two sons, Bruce Klotz and his wife Bonnie Adelson of Pittsburgh, PA, and Bill Klotz and his wife Eve of Effingham Falls, NH; a daughter, Ellen Zagajeski and her husband Stan of Natick, MA; her Godchildren, Robert Hettlinger and Karen Watras; six grandchildren, Alex Klotz, Tim Klotz, Jane Zagajeski and her husband Christian Ely, Paul Zagajeski, Nora Lantagne and her husband Bryan, and Johanna Klotz and her husband Noah Smith; and four great-grandchildren, Quinlan, Oliver, Mayzie, and Audrey.

The family wishes to thank the staff and Gladys’ friends at Southington Care Center for their kindness.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Britain.  Burial will be in Maple Cemetery, Berlin.   The family will receive guests at church from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.  Memorial donations may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain, CT  06051 or Camp Calumet, 1090 Ossipee Lake Rd., West Ossipee, NH  03890.
