Giuseppe Sanseverino, 66, passed away peacefully at home on January 11, 2026, after a short, hard-fought battle, surrounded by his loving partner and all of his children.
Born on July 21, 1959, in Avella, Italy, Giuseppe was the beloved son of the late Pasquale and Giuseppina (Del Mastro) Sanseverino. From a young age, he was known for his strong work ethic and determination. Giuseppe built his own business from the ground up, working as a home improvement contractor for more than 35 years. His hands were rarely still, and even after a long day at work, he always found time to tend to his home, yard, and outdoor projects, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to his neighbors.
Giuseppe was a true outdoorsman. Known to many as “Joe Deer,” he felt most at peace in nature—whether hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the quiet beauty of the outdoors. He also enjoyed playing cards, sharing laughs with friends and family, trying his luck on trips to the casino and spending time with his beloved cat Buddy. Giuseppe will be remembered as a simple, humble man who deeply valued the joys of everyday life.
Giuseppe is survived by his loving partner, Robin DeFelice; his daughters, Giuseppina Elena Sanseverino of New Britain, Carmela Antionetta Sanseverino (Jose Minier) of Berlin, Lisa Isabella Vittoria Sanseverino (Dominika Weddaborn) of East Granby, Vanessa Mary Sanseverino of New Britain, Michelle Lee Sanseverino (Samuel DeJesus) of Bristol, and Melissa Marie Sanseverino of Columbia, CT; his grandchildren, Jada, Amya, Julianna, Geovane, Natalia, and Julie; and his siblings, John and his wife, Lisa, Saveria, Aniello and his wife, Maria, Antonio and his wife, Giuseppina, and his sister, Maria, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Giuseppe was predeceased by his siblings, Angelina, Stefano, and Paulino Sanseverino.
Calling hours will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2026, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main Street, New Britain.
