Gertrude M. Caldwell

Gertrude M. Ziegler Caldwell, 97, of New Britain, died peacefully on Friday, May 8, 2009 at the Andrew House Convalescent home. She was the widow of Ferguson Caldwell. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late William and Anna Bellman Ziegler. She was a life long New Britain resident and was a graduate of the New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing in 1933. Gertrude was formerly employed as a registered nurse at General Electric Co., retiring in 1967. She was a member of South Church and the New Britain Senior Center. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her step-daughter, Lonah Butneris; her son-in-law, John Butneris; her sister, Ruth A. Rund; and two brothers, Herman P. Ziegler and Clifford W. Ziegler. She is survived by two granddaughters, Susan Morneau and her husband Paul of Bristol; and Diane Bosco of Diamond Point, NY; four grandchildren, Dean Morneau, Neil Morneau, Jennifer Bosco, and Dana Bosco; a sister in law Ellen Ziegler, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St. New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
