Dr. Gerald Edgarian, 86, of Bloomfield, CT, retired dentist and native resident of New Britain, CT, peacefully passed away on October 14, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was the son of Alex and Araxie Bagdasarian Edgarian. Gerry was a graduate of New Britain High School, the University of Connecticut and the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. During WWII, he served in the US Army Combat Engineers Corp 1564th between 1943-1946. His passions included golf, home-cooked meals and time spent with his family. Ger was a long-time member of Shuttle Meadow Country Club and also served on several boards for the city of New Britain. He is survived by his son Glenn and daughter-in-law, Barbara and grandson Casey of Carlsbad, CA; daughter Leslie and grandson Sam of Auburn, CA; daughter Carol and son-in-law, Tom Jenks and granddaughters Lucy and Olivia of San Francisco, CA; his sister Kanare Babayan of Needham, MA; brother Harold of Newton, MA; and several cousins, nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother, Arthur. In addition to being a loving father, brother and uncle, Gerry was a great friend to many. He will be missed. Calling hours are on Monday, October 17 from 5-7 pm at Erickson Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main Street, New Britain. A prayer service will be conducted on Monday at 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home and at 10:30 AM at St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church, 167 Tremont Street, New Britain. Burial with Military Honors, will follow at Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Stephen's Armenian Church or to the charity of your choice.
