Gerald J. Becker, Sr.

Gerald J. Becker, Sr., of West Hartford, died Thursday, March 18, 2004 after a long illness, surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Pamela Gagliardi Becker. Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Frederick and Frances Wells Becker. Gerald was a New Britain resident prior to moving to West Hartford where he has lived for 20 years. He was a World War II veteran serving in the Army Air Corps. Gerald was a Safety Engineer and Personnel Manager for Standard Structural Steel in Newington. He was a life long member of St. Mary's Church, New Britain. In addition to his wife, Mr. Becker is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Gerald J. Becker II and his wife Dr. Sheryn Holm of South Glastonbury, Dr. William J. Becker and his wife Nancy of Southington, Robert J. Becker and his wife Mary Alice of Berlin, a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Becker Keddy and her husband W. Peter of Cheshire, eight grandchildren, Eric, Adam, Brian, Brandon and Austin Becker and Alexandra, Jillian and McKenzie Keddy, his aunt Theresa Becker Lushinks of Newington and a special family friend Sister Barbara Kowalski. The family would like to thank the staff at Hartford Hospital and especially Dr. Anthony LaSala and Dr. James Gallagher. Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Entombment with full military honors will be in St. Mary Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain is entrusted with arrangements.
