George B. Gaedeke

George B. Gaedeke, 92, of Southington, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 1, 2012, at home. He was the husband of the late Lucille (Thompson) Gaedeke. Born July 5, 1919, in Monroe, NY, he was the son of the late John and Winnie (MacLean) Gaedeke. He spent most of his adult life in New Britain, CT, before moving to Whiting, NJ, and then to Southington, CT. Surviving are two sons: David Gaedeke and his wife Andrea of New Hartford, and James Gaedeke and his wife Patricia of East Berlin; his daughter-in-law and caregiver, Sandra Gaedeke of Southington; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He was predeceased by a son, Peter Gaedeke. George was employed by Tuttle and Bailey of New Britain for 37 years and retired as Director of Personnel in 1978. He was an active member of The Hartford Chapter Administrator Management Society, The Ct. Personnel Association, The New Britain Area Employment Association, The New Britain Manufacturers Council, one term Board Member of the New Britain Fire Commission, and was a corporator of The New Britain General Hospital. As a talented saxophonist he was, along with Lucille, an active contributor to the Retired Senior Volunteer Music Program in New Britain. He also contributed to the musical ministries and outreach program at the Ocean County Free Evangelical Church in Lakehurst, NJ. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. There are no calling hours. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Suite 301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691-4183.
