Gary T. Thureson

Gary T. Thureson, 47, of Collinsville, a former New Britain resident, died unexpectedly on Thursday, April 20, 2006 as a result of a motorcycle accident. Born in New Britain, he was a New Britain resident until moving to Collinsville two years ago. He was employed as a Correction Officer at the Walker Reception Center in Suffield. Gary was a US Marine Veteran and was a member of Elks Lodge #957 in New Britain. Surviving are his wife, Marylou Fusaro Thureson; two daughters, Stacey Thureson, stationed with the U.S. Air Force in Arizona and Karen Thureson of Rhode Island; a son, Michael Thureson of Collinsville; his mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Thureson of Kensington; his brother, Robert W. Thureson Jr. of Kensington; his grandmother, Frances Thureson of Kensington; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Robert W. Thureson Sr. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 1:00 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Maple Cemetery, Berlin. Calling hours are Saturday from 5-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen.
