Frank Flaminio

Frank Flaminio, of Bristol, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at his bedside.

He was the son of Frank Flaminio and Immacolata (Landolfi). He was predeceased by his sister and brother in law Rose & Vito Gallo, brother Giuseppe Flaminio, sister in law Olympia Flaminio, sister in law Carmela Franco and brother in law Antonio Mautone.

He was born in Naples, Italy and immigrated to the U.S. in 1960 and started building a life in New Britain, raising a family.  He and his beloved wife Rose were to celebrate their 67th wedding anniversary this July.  He was a devout parishioner of St. Francis church.

His family brought him the Greatest Joy.   He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He was a fabulous self- taught piano player & singer.  Every party with a microphone he’d get up and belt out a Frank Sinatra hit “I’m gonna wake up in a city that doesn’t sleep”.  He made sure to plan yearly vacations, visiting Italy several times to see relatives and embrace his Italian heritage. Distance didn’t affect his strong bond with family there.  He enjoyed the YMCA where he was an avid swimmer, he enjoyed bike riding and always loved weekend trips to Hammonasset and Rocky Neck beach. “The ocean is a natural healer” is what he would always say.

He retired from Stanley Tools and moved to Florida where he spent 20 years enjoying the sun, vacations and cruises with Rose.  He continued his YMCA membership there as well and was an active member of St. Thomas Church where he volunteered.  He & Rose returned to CT in 2014 to reside in Bristol where they enjoyed the Bristol Senior Center together.

Besides his beloved wife Rose he is survived by his dear brother Vincent Flaminio,  a son and two daughters; Robert Flaminio and wife Jeanine of Bristol, Diane Pinell and husband Charles of Florida and Carol Brazil and husband Gary of Southington. He also leaves several grandchildren that he adored more than life, Kiera Rodriguez and husband Johnny, Chazz Pinell, Nickolas Brazil and fiancé Samantha Duncan, Tina Brazil and Taylor Flaminio. He was the Proudest great grandfather to Dominic Rodriguez and soon to be baby brother. He also leaves several nieces and nephews that he held dear to his heart, a sister in law Carmela Flaminio and family in Italy.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Bristol Hospital for all their kindness throughout dad’s many stays and the staff at the Bristol Senior Club for always being so kind,
