Francisco Colon Figueroa, 87, of New Britain, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002. Born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico on April 1, 1915, he was a New Britain resident for the past 5 years. He was formerly employed as a general Forman at Champlin Co. in Hartford. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II and was a member of St. Mary Church. Surviving are his wife, Maria Colon; five daughters, Frediswinda Alvarez and her husband Luis Alvarez of New Britain, Carmen Morales of New Britain, Norma Rivera of FL, Brunilda Ruiz of Hartford, Migdalia Rivera of Bloomfield, Betsy Nieves of Waterbury; three sons, Hector Luis Colon of Bloomfield, William Colon of Vernon, and Orlando Colon of New Britain; 30 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, and 25 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral sevices will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Church. Burial, with military honors, will be in MT ST. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Friday 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
