Francis F. Behm

Francis F "Fritz " Behm, of Farmington, beloved husband of Elizabeth (Benz) Behm, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2011 at the UConn Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born and raised in Middletown, CT, and lived in Farmington the past 47 years. Fritz was the son of the late Caroline and Louis Behm of Middletown, CT. He was a Veteran of WW II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was proud to have served his country. He was decorated for having served in five major battles/campaigns ( Invasion of Normandy, Northern France, Germany, Central Europe, and Ardennis ). He was employed at the Royal McBee Corporation where he served as the Vice President of Overseas Operations and Directed Corporate Research and Development until his retirement in 1968. He served the town of Farmington on the Inland / Wetlands Commission and was an active member of St John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Britain, CT. He was an avid golfer his entire life having been a past member of both the Wethersfield Country Club and The Country Club of Farmington, CT. He was a fan of the Boston Red Sox, and UConn athletics. Besides his wife Elizabeth, he leaves a son Ron Behm and his wife Louise of Farmington, CT; two grandchildren, Kimberly Waldron and her husband Ryan of Hebron, CT, and Christopher Behm of Farmington, CT, two great-grandchildren; Logan and Emerson Waldron of Hebron, CT, as well as a Nephew and several Nieces. He was predeceased by his Sister Agnes Nyquist, New Britain, CT, and two brothers, Gustav Behm, Middletown, CT and Reynold Behm, Monroe, CT. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and warm thanks to all the Doctors and Nurses involved in his care on the MED 4 Floor of John Dempsey Hospital. A memorial service will be held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, at 11am, Friday, December 2, 2011. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, New Britain is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain, CT 06051.
