Euphrosene (Flossie) Morris Sfiridis, 101, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2021. She was born in Bristol, but moved to New Britain as a child and remained a lifelong resident of the city. She was the eldest daughter of the late John James Morris and Katharine (Kalotsoglou) Morris. She was a graduate of New Britain High School and worked in area factories during World War II, aptly being one of the many “Rosie the Riveters” of that era. After the war she became the wife of Aristidis (Ernie) George Sfiridis, settled in New Britain, and was married for 31 years before his passing in 1977.
She was totally dedicated to her family and was always there with her love, a hot meal and warm conversation. She was a lifelong member of St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church of New Britain, greatly valuing her many friends there and her Greek heritage. She is survived by three sons, James and his wife, Deborah, of Farmington, George and his wife, Loretta, of Manchester and John of New Britain, two granddaughters, Stephanie Sfiridis of Washington, D.C. and Krista (Sfiridis) Evans of Phoenix, AZ., a niece, Kathleen O’Leary of Plainville, and many nieces and nephews here and in Greece. She was predeceased by three brothers, James, Anthony and Andrew, and two sisters, Mary Garrity and Aspasea (Bessie) Tierney.
Funeral arrangements will be made by Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of New Britain. Calling hours will be from 6-8 pm, Wednesday, September 29, at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church in New Britain at 11 am, Thursday, September 30. May her memory be eternal.
