Florentino Alfonso

Florentino Alfonso, 89, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Friday at Newington Healthcare. He was the widower of Ines B. Alfonso. Born in Matanza, Cuba, he was the son of the late Bernardino and Lucia (Rodriguez) Alfonso. Florentino has been a long time New Britain resident, moving here from New York in 1957. He worked as a Machine Operator at Fafnir Bearing for many years, retiring in 1988. Florentino was a member of Iglesia Cristiana Pentecostal. Surviving are two devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Mirna and Roberto Rivera of New Britain, Zenaida and Samuel Aponte of FL, five grandchildren and their spouses, Roberto Jr. and Chastidy, Selina and David, Rita, Zenaida "China" , Eli and Jessica, and seven great grandchildren, Angelica, Joseph, Angeli, Jaelynn, Jaden, Imani, Aaliyah and Alissa, his sisters Sofia, Josefa, Dorinda, Consuelo, Euralia, Lola and Nancy. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main St. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday evening from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
