Florence Vumback Masselle, 95, of Kensington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 23, 2006. She was the widow of Anthony D. Masselle who died in 1975. Born in Meriden on Sept. 24, 1910, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Julia Carabetta Vumback. She lived in Kensington since 1931 and worked at Prentice Mfg. Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of St. Paul's Church and was a long time member and officer of the St. Ann's Society. Florence was one of the founders of the Morning Rosary Group. She spent many hours making rosary beads to be sent all over the world. She finally stopped because of poor eye sight after making over 20, 000 pairs of rosary beads. Florence was a 50-year member of the Italian Fraternal Society, serving as an officer and visiting sick members. Surviving are three children, Donald Masselle of PA, Franklin Masselle of Kensington, and Janice Masselle Reale of Kensington; seven grandchildren, Steven, David and Thomas Masselle of PA, Lisa Norton of Kensington, Karen Pac of Southington, Joseph and Jeffrey Reale, both of Kensington; twelve great-grandchildren, Shayna, Skylar, Nicole, Rachael, Matthew and Andrew Masselle, Jessica Norton, Franklin and John Pac, Jesse, Seth and Joseph Reale; and a great great-grandson, Caleb Reale. She is also survived by three sisters, Catherine Ascari, Rose Henry, and Eleanor Sadoski. She was predeceased by five brothers, Thomas, Arthur, Frank, John, and George Vumback and a sister, Lil Derosa. Florence was a kind and loving mother and grandmother to all her children and grandchildren and will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 5-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
