Florence (Charest) Van Gorder, 84, of New Britain, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2013. She was the widow of Morgan Van Gorder Jr. Born in Franklin, NH, she was the daughter of the late Aime and Aurore (LaBrie) Charest. She was a life long New Britain resident and was formerly employed at General Electric Co. Florence was a member of St. Jerome Church. Surviving are two sons, Joseph A. Van Gorder of Newington and his fiancée Susan, Douglas Van Gorder and his wife Leisa of Quincy, MA; a sister, Doris Charest of Plainville; a brother Fred Charest of New Britain; six grandchildren, Celina Kelleher and her husband Brian, Crystal Van Gorder and Jeremy Maksymiuk, Joseph Van Gorder and Jennifer Vayan, Doug, Alan, and Lana Van Gorder; her great-grandchildren, Owen, Peyton, and Dawson Kelleher, Marshall Maksymiuk, Sierra and Levi Van Gorder; and many nieces and nephews. Florence was predeceased by five brothers, Emile, Roland, Eugene, Leo, and Armand; and by two sisters, Rita Osipowicz and Laura Foligno. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at St. Jerome Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery.
