F. Barbara Parsons

F. Barbara Parsons, 84, of Farmington, formerly a resident for many years of Berlin and Rocky Hill, died Saturday May 20, 2006 in New Britain, CT. Barbara was married for 55 years to her husband John A. Parsons, who died Oct. 20, 2004. Born Florence Barbara Wall on January 16, 1922 in Hartford, CT, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Florence Wall. Barbara served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, as a Navy WAVES, or "Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service". Barbara was a communications specialist with wartime service in Washington, D.C., Georgia, and Oklahoma. She also worked before and after WWII for The Travelers Insurance Co. in Hartford. Barbara is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Brad and Karen Parsons of Berlin, and Scott J. Parsons of Tampa, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Jim Brandt of Napa, CA.; a brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Mary Lou Wall of South Windsor; four grandchildren: Kate, Krissy and Zachary Parsons all of Berlin and Tyler Brandt of Napa, CA; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Church in Kensington. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Tuesday from 5-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
