Evelyn Allen

Evelyn (Lindsey) Allen departed this life on Saturday February 11, 2023.

Evelyn leaves to mourn her passing three children; Andre’ Van Allen, Sonya M. Allen-Roeth, and Frederick C. Allen Jr., grandchildren; Ashley Marie Shannon and Jasmine Alysha Swartz, Andre L. Allen and Scott Allen, and a great-granddaughter; Ember Rayne Swartz.  She also leaves two sisters; Brenda Josephs and Donna Crockett, several nieces and nephews, and a host of cousins.

Evelyn was predeceased by her parents, Vernon and Fannie (Brown) Lindsey and Charles and Celestene (Barnes) Crockett and two brothers Dave and Calvin.

Evelyn was educated in the New Britain school system and graduated from New Britain Senior High School.  Upon graduation from high school, Evelyn attended Morse School of Business, and became an Executive Secretary.  She worked for David Chasse and the City of New Britain and other places of business.  From an early age she was never not working. Evelyn loved to dance, enjoyed friends and family card games.  She was very witty, always ready for a comeback remark.  Evelyn also enjoyed relaxing by doing yoga and crocheting.

Funeral services will be held at St. James Missionary Baptist Church, 45 Daly Ave., New Britain on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at 11 AM. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
