Evelia Sofia Abad Verdugo, 92, of Berlin, died peacefully Friday, Dec. 17, 2004 at Walnut Hill Healthcare Center. She was the widow of Armando Verdugo. Born in Havana Cuba, she was the daughter of the late Juan Abad Sanchez and Emilia Esteban Gonzales. Evelia was the youngest of five siblings, Maria, Jose, Consuelo and Gloria, all who were born in Almeria Andalucia Espana Spain. Evelia belonged to St. Paul's Church and the Associacion del Dulce Nombre de Jesus. Evelia was a strong, caring and generous woman who had a profound sense of faith and love for her friends and family. We will miss you grandma. Surviving are her beloved daughter, Juana E. Ramirez-Verdugo of Cromwell and fianc Charles Virone; three grandchildren, Lissette M. Bellody and husband Gregory, Luis A. Ramirez and fianc Laura Page, and Alexis J. Ramirez; three beautiful great-grandchildren Emma C. Bellody, Olivia A. Bellody and Rose S. Bellody; and several nieces nephews, and cousins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Paul's Church. Burial will be in Mt St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours will be Monday from 5:00-8:00 PM.
