Esther Rustico, 96, of New Britain, widow of Joseph "Putts" Rustico, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015 one day before her 97th birthday, at Apple Rehab in Plainville. Born in New Britain, she was a life-long New Britain resident. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, and a former member of the Ladies Guild at church. Esther and her husband were members and supporters of the New Britain High School Booster Club for many years. She had a passion for baseball, she was a loyal Red Sox fan, and loved to watch her son and grandsons play. Her most cherished times were family times. Making her favorite holiday meal and dessert recipes and then passing them down to the next generation was a gift the family will have forever. Surviving are two sons, Richard Rustico and Rosemarie Eyth and David Rustico and his wife Janice of Plantsville; five grandchildren and their spouses, Pamela, Robert and Tina, John and Ellen, Jason and Rebecca, and Jeffrey; seven great-grandchildren, Emma, Grace, Jack, Giada, Jordan, Mia and Rocco; her special friends, Ben Aivaz and Clara Varano; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Joseph Rustico Jr. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 So. Main St., New Britain, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-7 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
