Ernst Plagemann, 71, of New Britain, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 3, 2002 at New Britain General Hospital. Born in Naugatuck, he was the son of the late Rev. Martin Plagemann and Dora Lund Plagemann. He grew up in Germany and returned to New Britain in 1947. He was formerly employed for 30 years at Stanley Works, retiring in 1986. He was an active and devoted member of St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he had served on the Church Council, the Property Committee, as Treasurer and as a Choir member. He was formerly active on the Arch St. Neighborhood Committee and was a US National Guard Veteran of the Korean War. Ernst was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and was a good and caring friend to all who knew him. Surviving are his wife, Marion Keene Plagemann; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Eric and Tammy Plagemann of Wallingford, and Ernie Plagemann of New Britain; a granddaughter, Serena Plagemann; a niece and nephew; and several cousins in the United States and Germany. He was predeceased by a brother, Hans Plagemann, and by a sister, Leisel Lorensen. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S.
