Ernest Judd

Ernest Judd, 86, of New Britain, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016.

Born in New Britain, he was the son of the late Gustav and Anna (Jud) Judd.  Ernest was a lifelong New Britain resident and was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army Infantry, Veteran of the Korean War.  He worked as a school teacher for the Hartford Public School system for over 38 years and enjoyed teaching children how to read.  Ernest was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Britain and the Donau Club. His passions included the musical works of Johann Sebastian Bach and playing the piano for many years.

Surviving are his sister, Margaret Yung of New Britain; two brothers, Richard Judd and his wife Leila of Poughkeepsie, NY, Edward Judd and his wife Kathy of Deep River; a niece, Kristen Yung; his nephews, Peter Yung, Eric Judd and Ross Judd and two grandnieces Samantha and Lauren Judd.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2016, at 11:00 am at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain. Burial, with military honors, will be in Fairview Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 295 Arch St., New Britain, CT 06051 or to Cat Tales rescue shelter, PO Box 901, Middletown, CT 06457.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
