Eric Alexander Atkinson

Eric Alexander Atkinson, 80, of Newington, husband of Betty Ann Thibault Atkinson, died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005 at home. Born in Westmoreland, Jamaica, he was the son of the late George and Elfleda Peddie Atkinson. Eric was a resident of New Britain most of his life, and a Newington resident for the past 3 years. He was formerly employed at Emhart from 1958 to 1988. He was the founder of the New Britain Social Club-North St., New Britain. Eric enjoyed gardening, fishing and was an avid player and follower of the game of cricket. In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Shirley Atkinson; two sons, Robert Michael and Edwin Atkinson; stepchildren, Aelix Copes, Crystal Perry, John Randall, and Gregory Thibault; and his nephews, Maurice Rodgers and Cecil Rodgers. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., New Britain. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the New Britain Social Club, 145 North St., New Britain, CT 06051.
