Elsie Massi Samek, 84, of New Britain, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2007 surrounded by her loving family at the home of her son in Colchester. She was the widow of Henry J. Samek. Born in New Britain, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Santina DelPortico Massi. She was a life-long New Britain resident and was formerly employed as a waitress at the Inn Chablis in Plainville, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Jerome Church. Elsie adored her grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with her family on vacations. Surviving are two sons, Robert J. Samek and his wife Pattie of Kensington, Gary Samek and his wife Lisa of Colchester; a daughter, Laura J. Pellegrino and her husband Richard of Westerly, RI; three sisters, Rena Massi and Alice Deutsch, both of New Britain, and Olga McLoughlin of Berlin; her sisters-in-law, Virginia Nappi of Berlin, Rosalie Samek and Florence Samek, both of New Britain; her brother-in-law, George Jones of Newington; six grandchildren, Nicole Feeley of Boston, MA, Michael Samek of Kensington, Kelsey Samek and Christopher Samek, both of Colchester, Amy Pellegrino of Arlington, VA and Jennifer Pellegrino of Jersey City, NJ; two great-grandchildren, Morgan Felley and Madeline Feeley, both of Boston, MA; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, John Massi and William Massi, and by a sister, Mary Jones. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 9:30 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 S. Main St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM at St. Jerome Church. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 5-8 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home.
