Ellen "Bonnie" Morrissey

Ellen “Bonnie” (DeLoy) Morrissey, 79, of Newington, widow of Thomas J. Morrissey, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 10, 2024.

Born in New Britain, she was a former resident of Bristol and Terryville before moving to Newington 12 years ago. Ellen was formerly employed at G. Fox & Co. and later at the Connecticut Student Loan Foundation before retiring. Ellen was proud to be a kidney transplant survivor for 36 years. She enjoyed reading and letting all who would listen know about her finds at the library book sale, her annual family vacations at Clinton beach and later her time spent with Tom at the Lido beach in FL. She loved her game shows plus being surrounded by pictures; she’d always need to wrangle her grandchildren so that she could take some of her own. Her apple crisp recipe was loved by all and is used by multiple generations already. She was most proud of her boys; they never did any wrong in her eyes.

Surviving are four sons, Thomas Morrissey III and his wife Yanti of Florida, Michael Morrissey and his wife Sue of Southington, Dennis Morrissey and his partner Therese Audet of Southington, and Matthew Morrissey and his partner Amy Benigni of Guilford; her eight grandchildren, Mark, Cody, Jared, Dennis Jr., Devon, Emily, Mason and Maxwell; two sisters, Kathy Bonetti and her husband Bob, and Sandra Siek; her brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Ronnie & Nancy Morrissey; plus a niece & many nephews. Besides the love of her life, Tom, she was predeceased by her mother, Shirley DeLoy and sister, Patty Consolati.

The family would like to thank her hospice caregivers and her grandson Mason for the wonderful care they provided.
