Elizabeth Ustanowski

Elizabeth “Lizzy” Ustanowski, 95, of Newington passed away on Saturday at a local convalescent home. She was the widow of Joseph Ustanowski.

Born in New Britain, Lizzy was the daughter of the late Onifer and Catherine (Hritzko-Rich) Kerelejza.  She was a longtime New Britain resident moving to Newington 25 years ago. Lizzy worked at Berkshire Industries for over 55 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Ukranian Orthodox Church and a longtime, very active member of the St. Mary’s Ukranian Sisterhood of St. Olga. The family would like to express their thanks to the exceptional staff and administration of Bel-Air Manor for their warm, attentive and compassionate care of Lizzy.

Surviving are her daughter Kathleen Ustanowski of Newington, her son and daughter-in-law Tim and Sandra Ustanowski of Berlin, her granddaughter Emily Rose Ustanowski and her wife Hope, her special nephew Robert Miller and his wife Sandy, her special niece Marilyn Vanty and her husband Ray, two sisters-in-law Lois and Betty and several nieces and nephews. Lizzy was predeceased by her brother Michael “Moxie” and her sisters Anna, Helen and Irene.
