Elizabeth H. Stabert

Elizabeth H. Ziegler Stabert, 93, of 8814 Old Lake Road, Girard Township, PA, died on Saturday, October 28, 2006 at the Edinboro Manor Nursing Home after a short illness . Elizabeth was born in New Britain on October 23, 1913, the daughter of Jacob Ziegler and Mary Ritz Ziegler. She was educated in New Britain schools. She was a resident of Girard Township, PA for several years after living in New Britain for the first 85 years of her life, the majority of them at 121 Austin St. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in New Britain. She had been employed at Stanley Works prior to her retirement. She devoted her teenage years, dropping out of school, to the care of her siblings after the early death of her mother. She provided 24/7 care to them for 9 years in her father's home. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She assisted her daughter in knitting sweaters for the needy of the world through the Guideposts Organization. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Stabert; three brothers and three sisters. She is survived by two daughters; Carol Nass and husband, Wilbur Nass of Girard Township, PA; and Beverly Wolf and husband, Richard, of Spofford, NH; a brother, Robert Ziegler of Kensington; a sister Madeline Brandt, of Bristol; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor Ziegler, of New Britain. In addition, she leaves 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, 8 nieces and 6 nephews who mourn her departure. Funeral services will be held at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, 411 South Main Street, New Britain on Saturday, November 4th, at noon with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery in New Britain. Relatives and friends may pay their respects to the family two hours prior to the funeral.
